Paint it Black

Photobucket

Nation LTD tee, Zara trousers, Zara suede boots, American Eagle belt, Handmade playing card necklace

Ten days and counting until law school begins. Eeps. Til then, I plan on catching up with friends, relaxing, doing some shopping and taking as many outfit posts as possible. For this weekend though I'm off to watch The Ugly Truth (heard it's ha-larious), attending a friend's wedding and saying goodbye to my old roomie who's headed out to study in London for a year (so jealous!) What're your plans for the weekend?

Mischa, Channel Chanel

So while Ms. Barton has been getting nothing but terrible press lately (apparently shes cuckoo for coco puffs), whenever I think of Mischa I always remember her jealousy-inducing collection of Chanel. One that sticks out in my head is this baby pink heart chain-link of 2004, nowhere to be found. I tell you - when I'm a big-time lawyer, this is first on my bucket list. Until then, I will drool over this new website I found via The Purse Blog. Vintage, limited edition, the works. You're welcome.

PS. I used random.org to pick the winner of the Chickdowntown.com giveaway and it is Delmy from Fashion Bananas! Congrats girly, email me your info so we can get it sent out to you. Everyone else, thanks for commenting! :)

(In)vested

Photobucket

Vest bought in LA Fashion District, C&C black tank, AG Ex-boyfriend jeans, Zara suede boots

While strolling through the fashion district on my lunch a few days ago, I came across this fab vest that reminded me of that crazy American Apparel print. While I am a major fan of ethnic prints, AA's went a bit too far for this fashionista's taste. But this vest was perfect - as it can be paired with anything from a simple tank and jeans to a bathing suit and flip flops throughout the summer. Once the fall hits, it will be so chic and boho with riding boots and a tissue thin thermal. Yes, it shall be quite the investment. And for just $19 dollars. If you are ever in LA (or downtown for that matter), check out this little store called Duet in the alley. They have lots of chic little pieces like this for a fraction of what you would pay in stores. And of course, if you have cash you can barter your little butt off.

Cross

So does anybody remember back last year when the Rachel Zoe Project was on, and her crazy assistant wore this fab cross necklace?(see pic above) Well, apparentely it's super hard to come by and when you do its upwards of $800 dollars! So imagine my delight when I found an identical one - and I do mean identical - on Etsy. Even better it's only $38.00 and just stunning. Get it here.

Tuck, Tuck, Tucker

So it has been quite awhile since I've done a Tucker post, and while browsing their webshop once again I came across a plethora of new prints that I have to have now. Each of these would go flawlessly with some denim cut-offs for the summer. Another plus - Gaby has added tons of new prints in her new "Short Sleeve Blouse" a take on the ever-popular cult classic, The Blouse. From left: Perfume Print, Berry Stamp Print, and Mexico City Print. Oh, how I wish there was a sample sale coming to town soon! Which one is your favorite?

Alice

While my 25th birthday is not for another 6 months, the recent unveiling of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland trailer has me dreaming of an Alice in Wonderland themed b-day. While I am sure turning the big 2-5 is going to depress me, I hope to do anything and everything to make me feel like a kid again! And what better place to search for themed birthday necessities than Etsy? Here are some of my fabulous finds.

Alice Furry Golden Lolita Crown by SteamSociety ($39.00). How fab would this look with a mini dress and a 5 inch heel?

Alice in Wonderland Rabbit Invitations ($15 for 10) by VivaLaViolette. Perfect for the occasion and beautifully handmade.

Alice in Wonderland Glass Bottle Necklace with Key ($15.00) by ohhellofriend. I'm not sure if I would rather wear this beautiful dainty necklace the night of my birthday or hand them out as party favors - they are just so cute (and affordable!)

White Rabbit Studs ($12) by UntamedMenagerie. These neutral bunnies would go fabulous in my ears on my b-day and everyday after!

I also want to say a big hey-lo to all the new commenters / followers, I'm so glad you've stopped by my blog! I've had the best time checking out all of yours, too :)

Change

So I am one of those blogettes that is not so sure I am digging the new shopbop layout. I mean, who likes change, really? However, the one thing I do like about the new site is the "Shop Your Style" section. With five categories to choose from (Bohemian, Casual Chic, Classic, Edgy and Girly) there is something for everyone. Naturally I gravitated to the Boho and Casual Chic section! Here are the four pieces that have me lusting. Clockwise from left: Daughters of the Revolution Wonderland dress, Alex adn Ani Holly Vintage Bohemian Cocktail Ring, Patterson J. Kincaid Clermont Boudoir Dress and Jerome Dreyfuss Large Billy Bag. What do you think of the new layout? Love it or hate it?

PS. If you haven't stopped by Iamstyle-ish's blog today, head over! We teamed up to do a giveaway of one of my handmade necklaces!

Tan Lines

Photobucket

BCBG Dress bought resale, Zara fringed boots, Handmade necklace

Photobucket

Remember a few weeks back when I posted about my latest trip to Crossroads? Well this was one of my major scores - a BCBG dress for under $20 bucks! As the sun begins to scorch it becomes impossible to wear jeans - hence the colorful mini on a weekday. I decided to pair this ethnic-inspired dress with some very N.Richie shoes - the suede fringe booties I found at the Zara sale for 50% off. It's been so hot here that I finally have tan lines from the bikini I've been lounging in. I know some people hate tan lines but I sort of like them - they remind me that it's finally summertime.

Isn't A Grape Fit just the cutest color? Just looking at it makes me happy.

No Room for the Blues

Photobucket

With the impending thought of law school constantly on my mind, I find myself resisting any purchases over $20 dollars. It's pretty gnarley to think of just how much a law education costs - even with a full scholarship, I am having severe anxiety knowing that for the next three years, my income is going to be minuscule. So what does a fashionista do? Buy super girly, super happy nail polishes! Because I can no longer afford to get my mani-pedi every two weeks (this darn economy!), I have learned to do my own nails, and I actually really enjoy it - something very relaxing about it, no? Here are the colors I've been sporting as of late:

Essie Flirty Fuchsia: The perfect neon pink.

OPI A Grape Fit: A purple lover myself, I love how this matte shade goes with everything.

OPI No Room for the Blues: Put this on the day I got it. There is just something undeniably happy about a bright crayola-colored blue.

El Dorado

Photobucket

Slouchy tee and bracelet bought in LA fashion district, Current Elliott boyfriend shorts, American Eagle belt, Michele watch

So the boy and I finally made it up north and the first thing we did today was drive by his old house in El Dorado Hills. I must admit - I am a bit jealous he got to grow up on 10 acres, running around in fields chasing everything from snakes to wild turkeys. Did I mention he also had a pond and a waterfall in his backyard? Yeah. This place makes city life look overrated to say the least. I've been here all of 24 hours and am already dreading the thought of going home. Today we visited a place in Placerville called Apple Hill and devoured some apple cookies, homemade apple juice, fudge and apple brownies. It was a good day. And the heat up here (close to 100 degrees) calls for nothing but denim shorts and barely-there tees.

Red, White and (Light) Blue

In about 2 hours I am leaving to head up north for the long weekend - but while putting together outfits for the trip I couldn't help but stop by Shopbop and swoon over these pretty patriotic pieces - perfect to celebrate our holiday.

Thankfully packing was a breeze, as I simply packed every lightweight tee I could find in red, white, and blue (threw some yellow in there too) and my two bikini's that haven't gotten nearly enough use as they should. That will change this weekend as I tan on the American River up in my BF's hometown.

For all you that celebrate the 4th, what are your big plans for the weekend? Mine will include a stop at the famous Split Pea Andersens, (hopefully) some big fireworks, a stroll through Old Town Folsom, rocking out to Michael Jackson's Number #1's CD and the consumption of lots of fattening beer. Nothing sounds better than a four day weekend right now!

Summer, Summer, Summertime

As the heat reaches upwards of 95 degrees here in southern cali, the slew of summery dresses that have been patiently hiding in my closet are suddenly all I can wear. Yes people, summer is officially here. While I have some go-to classics that I will use summer after summer, I have my eye on a few super hippy dresses I just spotted on Nasty Gal Vintage. From left: Rosette Tye Dye dress ($88), Tie Dye Tank dress ($38).

What exciting purchases do you have planned for the summer?
